Pete's 100th - Philadelphia
Come help us celebrate the life and work of Pete Seeger! Pete was born on May 3rd, 1919. Many around the country have been celebrating Pete's life and work all this year in a variety of ways. We are bringing our own Pete 100th tour to Philly on Sunday, Oct 6th!
Songleader/performers. This Folk Factory/Philadelphia Folksong Society concert will feature Annie Patterson (the co-creator of the songbooks Rise Up Singing and Rise Again) along with the stirring folksinger/activist duo Magpie (Greg Artzner & Terri Leonino) - all of whom worked closely with Pete during his life.
Singing together. We will be singing out of If I Had a Hammer, a new collection of songs that Pete wrote or was great at performing and leading. We have created this songbook especially to honor the 100th anniversary of Pete Seeger's birth. Copies will be available to borrow or buy at the concert - or you can pre-order copies now to pick up when you arrive.
Tickets. You can buy advance tickets now on this site: give your name at the "will call" list at the door. Tickets also will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $20. ("Be generous! Be affordable!") Children free. No one turned away for lack of funds. Patron tickets include a copy of If I Had a Hammer signed by the artists at this concert.
A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to POWER (Philadlephians Organized to Witness, Empower, and Rebuild), an interfaith progressive activist coalition working to fight economic inequality, racism, and educational inequities in the Philadelphia area and beyond. www.powerinterfaith.org
